White Sox acquire pitcher Ricardo Pinto from Philadelphia

The Chicago White Sox have acquired right-handed pitcher Ricardo Pinto from the Philadelphia Phillies in exchange for international signing bonus pool money.

CHICAGO -- The Chicago White Sox have acquired right-handed pitcher Ricardo Pinto from the Philadelphia Phillies in exchange for international signing bonus pool money.
Pinto, 24, split the 2017 season between the Phillies and Class AAA Lehigh Valley. He made 25 relief appearances with Philadelphia, going 1-2 with a 7.89 ERA (26 ER/29.2 IP) and 25 strikeouts, and 5-3 with a 3.86 mark (26 ER/60.2 IP), one save and 46 strikeouts in 19 appearances (eight starts) with the IronPigs. Pinto made his major-league debut on May 31, 2017 at Miami.
A 6-foot, 205-pound native of Guacara, Venezuela, Pinto pitched for the World Team at the All-Star Futures Game in 2016 in San Diego. He received the Paul Owens Award in 2015 as Philadelphia's Minor League Pitcher of the Year, and earned Pitcher of the Month honors three times.
Pinto has gone 38-26 with a 3.28 ERA (197 ER/541.0 IP), two saves and 390 strikeouts in 108 career appearances (90 starts) over six seasons in the Philadelphia system (2012-17). He originally was signed by the Phillies as an international free agent on December 28, 2011.
The White Sox 40-man roster increases to 39.
