The Chicago White Sox have announced their player development staff and assignments for the 2016 season.

Former White Sox outfielder Aaron Rowand was previously announced as the organization's new outfield and baserunning coordinator. Willie Harris, Rowand's teammate on the 2005 World Series championship team, will begin his coaching career as the hitting coach at Great Falls. Harris appeared in 313 games with the Sox from 2002-05, batting .246 (204-830) with 52 RBI and 49 stolen bases. He scored the game-winning run in Game 4 of the 2005 World Series to complete the four-game sweep.

Five managers return to the White Sox organization, with four leading different clubs from last season. Julio Vinas will manage Class AAA Charlotte after spending the 2013-15 seasons at Class AA Birmingham. Joel Skinner will serve as the manager at Class A Winston-Salem after leading the Knights from 2012-15, while Cole Armstrong will manage Class A Kannapolis (Advanced Rookie Great Falls in 2015). Tommy Thompson will guide Great Falls this season (Kannapolis in 2015), and Mike Gellinger returns to the helm of the Arizona Rookie League White Sox (2015 AZL champions).

Ryan Newman has been tabbed as the new manager at Birmingham after serving as an assistant coach with Charlotte from 2014-15. Newman previously managed in the White Sox system with Advanced Rookie Bristol (2009-10), Great Falls (2011-12) and Winston-Salem (2013). He guided the Voyagers to a Pioneer League championship in 2011.

Five pitching coaches return this season, including Richard Dotson (Charlotte), J.R. Perdew (Birmingham), Jose Bautista (Winston-Salem), Brian Drahman (Kannapolis) and Felipe Lira (AZL White Sox). Matt Zaleski will begin his first season as the Great Falls pitching coach after playing in the White Sox system from 2004-14. The Arlington Heights native went 49-50 with a 3.88 ERA (413 ER/958.1 IP) over 316 games (110 starts) after being selected by the Sox in the 30th round of the 2004 draft.
