White Sox announce 2020 regular-season schedule

July 6th, 2020

Sox also will play three exhibition games (July 19 and July 21-22) prior to Opening Day

The Chicago White Sox tonight announced their 60-game, regular-season schedule for the 2020 season, with Opening Day on Friday, July 24 vs. Minnesota (7:10 p.m. CT) at Guaranteed Rate Field. The season opener is the latest in franchise history due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

Opening Day is part of a three-game series against the division-rival Twins (July 24-26). The White Sox will open the season against Minnesota for the first time since 2014, an American League Central opponent for the 16th time in the last 18 seasons and at home for the fifth time since 2010.

Following their season-opening series, the White Sox take their first trip of the season, an eight-game, nine-day trek to Cleveland (July 27-29), Kansas City (July 31-August 2) and Milwaukee (August 3-4).

On Thursday, August 13, the White Sox will "host" the St. Louis Cardinals in MLB's "Field of Dreams" game in Dyersville, Iowa, at the site of the beloved 1989 baseball movie "Field of Dreams." The game is scheduled for a 6:15 p.m. CT first pitch and will be broadcast nationally on FOX. A ballpark has been constructed at the site that has design aspects of Old Comiskey Park, the White Sox home from 1910-1990. Following an off day on August 14, the Sox and Cardinals will conclude the three-game series on August 15-16 in Chicago.

The annual Crosstown Series vs. the Cubs takes place across two, three-game sets: August 21-23 at Wrigley Field and September 25-27 at Guaranteed Rate Field, the final three games of the 2020 regular season.

Other 2020 interleague series include: vs. Milwaukee (August 5-6 at Guaranteed Rate Field), Pittsburgh (August 25-26 at Guaranteed Rate Field; September 8-9 at PNC Park), and Cincinnati (September 18-20 at Great American Ball Park).

The White Sox play each AL Central opponent 10 times during the 2020 season: Cleveland (July 27-29 at Progressive Field; August 7-9 at Guaranteed Rate Field; September 21-24 at Progressive Field); Detroit (August 10-12 at Comerica Park; August 17-20 and September 11-13 at Guaranteed Rate Field); Kansas City (July 31-August 2 at Kauffman Stadium; August 28-30 at Guaranteed Rate Field; September 3-6 at Kauffman Stadium) and Minnesota (July 24-26 at Guaranteed Rate Field; August 31-September 2 at Target Field; September 14-17 at Guaranteed Rate Field).

The White Sox will play three exhibition games leading up to Opening Day: July 19 at the Cubs (7:05 p.m.), July 20 vs. the Cubs (7:10 p.m.) and July 22 vs. Milwaukee (7:10 p.m.).

Game times for the 2020 schedule are subject to change. Promotions planned for the original 2020 schedule, such as Family Sundays and Elvis Night, have been postponed to a later date, which may include the 2021 regular season.
