White Sox place Avisail Garcia on the disabled list and recall Jason Coats

Prior to tonight's series opener at Kansas City, the Chicago White Sox placed outfielder Avisail Garcia on the 15-day disabled list (retroactive to Aug. 7) with a sprained right knee and recalled outfielder Jason Coats from Class AAA Charlotte.

Prior to tonight's series opener at Kansas City, the Chicago White Sox placed outfielder Avisail Garcia on the 15-day disabled list (retroactive to Aug. 7) with a sprained right knee and recalled outfielder Jason Coats from Class AAA Charlotte.
Coats, 26, is hitting .091 (2-22) with one double and two runs scored in 12 games over two stints with the White Sox this season. He made his major-league debut on June 4 at Detroit. Coats is batting .329 (81-246) with 17 doubles, two triples, eight homers, 29 RBI, 34 runs scored, a .390 on-base percentage and .902 OPS in 65 games with Charlotte. He would rank second in the International League in average and fifth in on-base percentage with the necessary plate appearances.
Garcia, 25, is hitting .240 (69-288) with 11 doubles, one triple, nine homers and 36 RBI over 86 games this season, his fourth with Chicago. He has made 58 starts as the designated hitter, 16 in right field and six in left.
