White Sox purchase contract of Covey, option Infante

Between games of today's split doubleheader at Kansas City, the Chicago White Sox purchased the contract of right-handed pitcher Dylan Covey from Class AAA Charlotte and optioned right-hander Gregory Infante to Charlotte.

Between games of today's split doubleheader at Kansas City, the Chicago White Sox purchased the contract of right-handed pitcher Dylan Covey from Class AAA Charlotte and optioned right-hander Gregory Infante to Charlotte.
 
Covey, 26, is scheduled to start the second game of today's doubleheader. The 6-foot-1, 220-pound Covey is 2-1 with a 2.95 ERA (7 ER/21.1 IP) and 16 strikeouts over four starts with Charlotte this season, limiting opponents to a .208 (15-72) average. He threw 6.0 scoreless IP in his last start on April 22 at Indianapolis.
 
Covey spent the entire 2017 season with the White Sox, going 0-7 with a 7.71 ERA (60 ER/70.0 IP) and 41 strikeouts over 18 games (12 starts). He was on the disabled list from May 26-August 15, 2017 with a strained left oblique.
 
Covey, who was selected by the Sox from Oakland in the Rule 5 Draft on December 8, 2016, will wear uniform No. 68.
 
Infante, 30, is 1-1 with a 8.00 ERA (8 ER/9.0 IP) in 10 appearances over two stints with the Sox this season.
