Yankees acquire LHP Alfredo Garcia from Colorado

The New York Yankees announced today that they have acquired LHP Alfredo Garcia from the Colorado Rockies in exchange for RHP Joseph Harvey.

Garcia, 20, has split the 2019 season between Single-A Asheville and Single-A Boise, going 3-10 with a 6.00 ERA (105.0IP, 70ER) in 22 starts. His 10.54 K/9.0 IP ratio this season (123K, 105.0IP) marks a career high. In 42 career minor league appearances (38 starts), has gone 7-18 with a 4.85 ERA (200.1IP, 108ER) and 191K.

Born in Puerto Ordaz, Venezuela, Garcia was originally signed by the Rockies as a non-drafted free agent on July 2, 2016.

Harvey, 27, made his Major League debut with the Yankees in 2019, going 1-0 with a 4.50 ERA (10.0IP, 5ER) in nine relief appearances. He also made 22 relief appearances for Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre, going 0-1 with nine saves and a 3.12 ERA (26.0IP, 9ER). He was originally selected by the Yankees in the 19th round of the 2014 First-Year Player Draft.
