The New York Yankees return home to Yankee Stadium today for their final regular season homestand of the year. The stretch will feature the makeup game of a May 25th rainout vs. Kansas City (Monday, September 25), a three-game series vs. the Tampa Bay Rays (Tuesday-Thursday, September 26-28) and a three-game set vs. the Toronto Blue Jays (Friday-Sunday, September 29-October 1).
Prior to the scheduled 7:05 p.m. Yankees-Rays game on Thursday, September 28, the family of slain NYPD Officer Miosotis Familia will throw out the ceremonial first pitch. Familia was randomly shot and killed in early July as she sat in an NYPD mobile command vehicle on 183rd Street and Creston Avenue in the Fordham Heights section of the Bronx.
On Friday, September 29, and as part of the Yankees' celebration of Hispanic Heritage Month, acclaimed salsa singer Frankie Negrón will take part in the Hard Rock presents Friday Night Concert Series, powered by JBL. The salsa singer's distinct blend of traditional salsa with progressive influences such as pop, rock, gospel, R&B, hip-hop, and reggaetón has garnered numerous awards and multiple Grammy and Billboard award nominations. The performance is scheduled to take place in the Masterpass Batter's Eye Deck from approximately 11:30 a.m. to 12:15 p.m.
That same night, actor and singer Ana Villafañe will perform the national anthem. Best known for her portrayal of Gloria Estefan in the Broadway musical On Your Feet!, Villafañe has appeared in numerous films and television shows. In addition, Villafañe will be recognized by the Yankees in a pregame ceremony highlighting the 10th annual Hispanic Heritage Month Community Achievement Awards. The honor acknowledges those who proudly serve the surrounding communities in the areas of the arts, athletics, business, education and social responsibility.
Fan Appreciation Voucher Day will take place on Sunday, October 1. All Guests in attendance will receive a voucher valid for two (2) tickets to a select Yankees 2018 regular-season home game.
For the seventh consecutive year, the Yankees will join with NewYork-Presbyterian - the official hospital of the New York Yankees - Columbia University Medical Center, Weill Cornell Medicine and Ed Randall's Fans for the Cure (fans4thecure.org) to help save lives from prostate cancer during Prostate Cancer Awareness Month by offering a free screening.
Prior to and during the scheduled 7:05 p.m. game against the Tampa Bay Rays on Tuesday, September 26, ticketed fans, game day employees and media members 40 years of age and older are encouraged to visit the area near Main Level Section 220, where medical personnel will be standing by to administer quick and simple PSA blood tests to all who request one.
Ticket specials will run on Monday, September 25 (Mastercard Half-Price/Military Personnel/Senior Citizen/Youth Game), Tuesday, September 26 (Military Personnel Game), Wednesday, September 27 (Military Personnel/Student Game), Thursday, September 28 (Military Personnel Game), Friday, September 29 (Senior Citizen Game), Saturday, September 30 (Youth Game) and Sunday, October 1 (Youth Game).
