Asdrubal exits in 2nd inning with tight calf

April 26th, 2019

SEATTLE – Rangers third baseman left Thursday night’s 14-2 loss to the Mariners in the second inning with tightness in his left calf muscle. The Rangers are still evaluating the severity of the injury.

“We don’t know yet,” Rangers manager Chris Woodward said. “Hopefully it’s just tightness but we’ll re-evaluate it tomorrow when he comes in and see where he is at.”

The Rangers are planning to bring Rougned Odor to Seattle on Friday and possibly activate him off the injured list. But they haven’t made a decision whether they will put Cabrera on the same list.

Cabrera felt the tightness running out a grounder to end the Rangers half of the second inning. He was immediately replaced by Patrick Wisdom.

This could extend Wisdom’s time in the big leagues if Cabrera is sidelined for an extended period of time. He was the leading candidate to get sent out this weekend when Odor is activated.

Odor went on the injured list retroactive to April 11 with a sprained right knee. He played his second game on medical rehab assignment with Triple-A Nashville on Thursday night and was 2-for-4 with a home run against Iowa.
