Rangers Youth Academy hosts successful RBI Southwest Regional Tournament

Last weekend from July 9-11, the Texas Rangers Youth Academy played host to the 2021 MLB RBI Southwest Regional Tournament. Teams from Austin, Houston and New Orleans competed alongside Rangers RBI for a chance to win the title of MLB RBI Southwest Regional Champion.

Three champions were crowned over the weekend, NOLA YA RBI 15U Baseball, Astros RBI 18U Softball and RBI Austin 18U Baseball. In August, each of these division winners will represent the Southwest Region at the MLB RBI Baseball and Softball World Series at the Jackie Robinson Sports Complex in Vero Beach, Fla.

Rangers RBI 15U Baseball finished the weekend 1-3 in third-place, Rangers RBI 18U Baseball also finished third with a 2-2 record, and Rangers RBI 18U Softball competed in the championship game, settling for a second-place finish and a 3-2 record.

Career Showcase

Today, Friday, July 16, the first session of the Texas Rangers Youth Academy Career Workshop Series will take place. Every Friday for the next three weeks, Youth Academy athletes are invited to attend the career workshop to learn from a variety of area professionals in marketing, communications, biomechanics/sports science, umpiring and other occupations.

This yearly career workshop opens the door for Youth Academy kids to explore their future and ask these volunteer speakers all about their daily work lives. The next two sessions of the Career Workshop Series will be Friday, July 23, at the Globe Life Training Center at the Youth Academy and Friday, July 30, at Globe Life Field before the 7:05 p.m. game versus the Seattle Mariners.

Rangers RBI resumes with post-season play

After a brief recess during the RBI Southwest Regional Tournament, the Rangers RBI League resumed Tuesday, July 13, wrapping up the regular season and transitioning into post-season play.
