Rangers Academy notebook: Kiley Cox enjoys World Series experience

November 1st, 2019

Game Four of the World Series on October 25 at Nationals Park featured a Rangers representative on the field.

Texas Rangers MLB Youth Academy at Mercy Street Sports Complex, Presented by Toyota, participant Kiley Cox was named the Academy’s Youth of the Year and joined nine other members of MLB Youth Academies from around the country in being recognized during pregame ceremonies.

“Being honored at the World Series game in front of all those people was unreal. When I saw my name on the screen for Youth of the Year, I just felt so proud of all the hard work and dedication and time that I and the other youth winners put into the sport we love. I was just happy to be there with all the different RBI youth winners and other youth players who won separate awards, enjoying our time and bonding and getting to know one another while having the experience of a lifetime,” Cox recounted.

Kiley Cox and the other Youth of the Year recipients also assisted with a PLAY BALL event hosted by MLB and the Washington Nationals for kids of military families stationed at Fort Belvoir. And Cox and her mom still found time to explore the city.

“My mom and I got to see the city and see what Washington is about. We love to travel and see new things and meet new people,” Cox said. “Not only did we get that over the weekend, we got Game Four!”
