MINNEAPOLIS -- The Twins announced that Royce Lewis left Sunday's 9-2 loss to the Guardians after five innings with left shoulder soreness. He made a diving play to get the last out of the fourth inning at first base, and flied out to right field in his final at-bat in the bottom half of the inning.
Manager Derek Shelton said Lewis aggravated the soreness on his left shoulder during the play he made to finish the top of the fourth inning.
“Two pitches before he had the F9, I think he kind of tweaked it a little bit again,” said Shelton. “He’s day to day, and we’ll kind of see how he is tomorrow.”
Victor Caratini entered the game as Lewis’s replacement at first base in the top of the sixth.
Lewis is slashing .230/.297/.688 with the Twins this season.
