Twins announce positive COVID-19 test

April 17th, 2021

A member of the Twins' traveling party tested positive for COVID-19 before Minnesota's 10-3 loss to the Angels on Friday night at Angel Stadium, manager Rocco Baldelli announced following the game.

Baldelli did not specify what role that person had in the Twins' group, but indicated that "a few members of the group" will remain away from the stadium and at the hotel for the next few days.

He also specified that the individuals in the Twins' travel party that underwent the contact tracing process "came out OK," but the club will continue to take heightened precautions at the ballpark, including staying outdoors and away from the clubhouse as much as possible.

Members of the Twins' travel party were offered the one-dose COVID-19 vaccine on April 8. On Wednesday, the Twins placed shortstop Andrelton Simmons on the COVID injured list and announced that he had tested positive.
