The 10th annualbenefitting Chicago White Sox Charities was held June 11-16. For the past decade, Sox Serve Week has embodied the White Sox dedication to making the Chicagoland community a better place to live, work and play. The campaign has raised more than $1.8 million for CWSC.
Sox players, former player ambassadors, front office staff and Volunteer Corps members participated in service events and fundraising activities throughout the week. While each day featured a different event, one of the defining moments was fulfilling Alex Estrada's ultimate wish. The White Sox surprised the seven year old battling a rare form of cancer called neuroblastoma with an unforgettable day at the ballpark. From playing Mario Cart with Yolmer Sánchez and Héctor Santiago in the clubhouse to hitting a "home run for life" and running around the bases with major-league players cheering him on, Alex's smile lit up the entire ballpark.
