Warm up a reliever? Snag a HR? Bullpen catcher knows how to multitask

It was quite the night for Mets' catchers and catching coaches on Tuesday in Toronto.

Francisco Alvarez, who was DH’ing, hit a solo home run in the fifth inning to break the scoreless tie. Two innings later, Luis Torrens, who was behind the dish for New York, homered out to the Mets bullpen in right field.

The ball traveled right to Mets bullpen catcher Eric Langill, who effortlessly caught the home run ball while in the catcher’s crouch -- he was in the midst of catching warmup tosses for Brooks Raley.

Those solo homers from the Mets catchers proved to be plenty in a 3-0 win over Toronto. Torrens was behind the plate for a masterful performance from Nolan McLean, who tossed six scoreless innings and struck out seven batters.
