Seattle Mariners second baseman Robinson Canó has been named American League Player of the Week for May 2-8. It is the first Player of the Week honor of the season for Canó, and the seventh of his career.
Canó hit .516 (16x31) with 8 runs, 3 doubles, 4 home runs, 9 RBI and a 1.516 OPS in 7 games vs. the Athletics and Astros. He recorded a hit in each of the 7 games and tallied 5 multi-hit games.
