The Oakland A's recalled right-handed pitcher Jesse Hahn and infielder Max Muncy from Triple-A Nashville, the club announced today. The A's also optioned left-handed pitcher Eric Surkamp to Nashville and placed catcher Josh Phegley on the 15-day disabled list retroactive to May 10 with a strained right knee.
 
Hahn joins the A's for the second time this year as he went 1-1 with a 3.00 ERA in two starts during his first stint from April 30 to May 7. After tossing 6.2 shutout innings for the win in his first start April 30 against Houston, he allowed five runs in 5.1 innings in a 5-2 loss at Baltimore May 7. Hahn made one start with Nashville following his May 8 option and it came last Thursday at Iowa when he allowed a run on seven hits in 5.2 innings for the win. The 26-year-old right-hander went 1-1 with a 1.93 ERA in five starts overall with the Sounds and did not allow a home run in 23.1 innings.
 
Muncy was batting .279 with six home runs and 15 RBI in 37 games with Nashville and added 22 walks for a .399 on-base percentage. He was tied for the Pacific Coast League lead in games played and ranked fourth in walks. The 25-year-old left-handed hitter appeared in 18 games in left field, 10 at third base, five at designated hitter and three at first base. This will be Muncy's first stint with the A's this year. He made his Major League debut with Oakland last year, batting .206 with three home runs and nine RBI in 45 games over four stints.
 
Surkamp was recalled last Wednesday for his second stint with the A's. He allowed four runs in 2.2 innings in a start and loss that night at Boston and is 0-3 with a 6.55 ERA in five starts overall with Oakland.
 
Phegley was on the A's Opening Day roster and was hitting .270 with two doubles and three RBI in 13 games. He has not played since going 0-for-4 in a start at catcher May 9 at Boston. This is his first career stint on the disabled list.
