A's recall LHP Surkamp from Nashville; Option RHP Neal to Nashville

The Oakland A's recalled left-handed pitcher Eric Surkamp from Triple-A Nashville and optioned right-handed pitcher Zach Neal to Nashville, the club announced today.

The Oakland A's recalled left-handed pitcher Eric Surkamp from Triple-A Nashville and optioned right-handed pitcher Zach Neal to Nashville, the club announced today.
 
Surkamp joins the A's for the third time this year and is 0-3 with a 6.55 ERA in five starts over his previous two stints. He has walked 14 batters while striking out just 12 in 22.0 innings. The 28-year-old left-hander is also 2-1 with a 3.91 ERA and .202 opponents batting average in four starts with Nashville. Surkamp has 28 strikeouts and eight walks in 23.0 innings with the Sounds.
 
Neal was recalled from Nashville May 25 and started that night at Seattle. He allowed seven runs on eight hits in 4.0 innings for the loss and also pitched a scoreless inning of relief last Saturday against Detroit. Neal is 0-1 with an 11.25 ERA in three games overall with Oakland. He is also 5-1 with a 2.53 ERA in seven starts with the Sounds.
