Prior to today's game against the Cleveland Indians, the Boston Red Sox announced the following roster moves: 
• First baseman Hanley Ramirez was placed on the bereavement list.
• Right-handed pitcher Steven Wright was placed on the 15-day disabled list (retroactive to August 8) with a right shoulder strain. 
• Left-handed pitcher Roenis Elias was optioned to Triple-A Pawtucket following yesterday's game against Arizona. 
• Right-handed pitcher Heath Hembree and infielders Marco Hernandez and Deven Marrero were recalled from Pawtucket.
Hembree, Hernandez, and Marrero will all be active for today's game in Cleveland at 1:10 p.m. 
President of Baseball Operations David Dombrowski made the announcement. 
Ramirez, 32, has played 107 games for the Red Sox this season, batting .275 (110-for-400) with 57 runs, 22 doubles, one triple, 16 home runs, 71 RBIs, and seven stolen bases while making 95 starts at first base and nine starts as designated hitter. In his last 40 games since June 22, the right-handed hitter has posted a .294 batting average (42-for-143) and a .967 OPS with 10 doubles, 11 home runs, and 32 RBIs. The three-time National League All-Star has played in 1,435 games over 12 Major League seasons since being signed by Boston as an amateur free agent in July 2000, hitting .294 (1,613-for-5,478) with 938 runs, 337 doubles, 32 triples, 226 home runs, 778 RBIs, 274 stolen bases, and a .491 slugging percentage. 
Wright, a first-time All-Star in 2016, has gone 13-5 with a 3.01 ERA (49 ER/146.2 IP) and 123 strikeouts in 22 starts this year. Entering play today, the knuckleballer ranked sixth among all American League pitchers in wins, eighth in ERA, and eighth in opponent batting average (.227). His most recent start came on August 5 at Dodger Stadium, where he threw his first career shutout and held the Dodgers to only three hits with one walk and nine strikeouts. Over his Major League career, spent entirely with the Red Sox (2013-16), Wright is 20-10 with a 3.41 ERA (96 ER/253.2 IP) and 207 strikeouts in 48 games (33 starts).
Elias, 28, threw the final two innings of yesterday's win versus the Diamondbacks. Over his three stints with the Red Sox this year, the left-hander has appeared in three games (one start) and is 0-1 with a 12.91 ERA. He will rejoin Pawtucket where he has gone 8-4 with a 3.72 ERA (42 ER/101.2 IP) and 89 strikeouts in 17 games (15 starts). Over his last 12 Minor League appearances (11 starts) since May 18, Elias is 8-1 with a 3.05 ERA (26 ER/76.2 IP) and .223 opponent batting average. For his big-league career, the Cuban native is 15-21 with a 4.21 ERA (134 ER/286.2 IP) and 243 strikeouts in 54 games (50 starts) between the Mariners (2014-15) and Red Sox (2016).
Hembree, 27, returns to the Red Sox for his third stint in the Majors this season. Over his previous two stints with the big-league club, the right-hander has gone 4-0 with a 2.41 ERA (10 ER/37.1 IP) and 36 strikeouts in 27 appearances. With the PawSox, Hembree has no record with a 0.82 ERA (1 ER/11.0 IP) and 20 strikeouts in 10 appearances. He has also converted all seven of his save opportunities for Pawtucket, and has allowed only one run in his last six appearances with just two hits allowed in 20 at-bats against (.100 AVG). In 64 career Major League appearances, Hembree is 6-0 with a 2.80 ERA (25 ER/80.1 IP) and 69 strikeouts between the San Francisco Giants (2013) and the Red Sox (2014-16).
This will be the fourth Major League stint this season for the 23-year-old Hernandez, who has a .295 batting average (13-for-44) with seven runs, one double, one home run, five RBIs, and one stolen base in 29 big-league games, all with Boston. Acquired from the Chicago Cubs in 2014 in exchange for Felix Doubront, the switch-hitting infielder has spent the majority of the year with Pawtucket, batting .303 (61-for-201) with 25 runs, seven doubles, four triples, four home runs, 28 RBIs, and four stolen bases in 52 games at four different defensive positions. Since signing with Chicago as an amateur free agent in 2009, the Dominican native has hit .282 (680-for-2,413) over 629 Minor League games, tallying 315 runs, 118 doubles, 33 triples, 30 home runs, 283 RBIs, and 93 stolen bases. 
Marrero, 25, will begin his second stint with Boston this season, having played in each game of a four-game series against the Chicago White Sox from June 20-23, recording one hit in seven at-bats. The right-handed infielder has also played 87 games with Pawtucket this year, appearing at shortstop (83 games), second base (two games), and third base (two games) while hitting .196 (65-for-331) with 28 runs, 10 doubles, one triple, one home run, 26 RBIs, and 10 stolen bases. In five Minor League seasons since being selected by Boston in the first round of the 2012 June Draft (24th overall), Marrero has hit .246 (446-for-1,810) with 244 runs, 87 doubles, seven triples, 17 home runs, 164 RBIs, and 89 stolen bases in 475 games. In 29 Major League games since making his debut in 2015, he has gone 13-for-60 (.217) with eight runs, one home run, three RBIs and two stolen bases.
