Indians announce expanded September roster

The club made five roster moves today.

The Cleveland Indians today announced the following roster moves relative to the 2016 Major League roster:
- Activated RHP DANNY SALAZAR (#31) from the Paternity List.
- Added OF COCO CRISP (#4) to Major League roster.
- Recalled RHP CODY ANDERSON (#56), RHP JOE COLON (#65) and INF ERIK GONZALEZ(#9).
- Purchased the contract of C ADAM MOORE (#45) from AAA Columbus.
- Designated OF COLLIN COWGILL for assignment.
Anderson, 25, is beginning his seventh stint with Cleveland in 2016, compiling a mark of 2-4 with a 7.15 ERA in 13 games/8 starts (50.1IP, 73H, 40R/ER, 10BB, 41SO). Around his tenure in Cleveland he has posted a mark of 0-2 with 1 save and a 3.62 ERA in 13 games/6 starts at Triple-A Columbus (32.1IP, 32H, 13ER, 10BB, 40SO). He has appeared in a relief role since August 7, posting a bullpen ERA of 1.23 (7.1IP, 5H, 1R/ER, 10SO) in 7 outings and has not allowed a run over his last 6 outings (6.1IP, 3H, 10SO). He has limited Triple-A hitters to a mark of .203 (12-59) with runners on base this season.
Colon, 26, begins his second stint with Cleveland this year, appearing in his first 3 Major League games in relief from July 7-18 (2.45 ERA, 1ER/3.2IP) before going on the 15-day Disabled List from July 19-August 14 with right shoulder inflammation (activated/optioned to AAA Columbus on Aug. 15). Around his stint in Cleveland he has posted an ERA of 0.82 in 20 relief appearances for the Columbus Clippers (22.0IP, 8H, 2ER, 12BB, 21SO, .114 avg). Triple-A right-handed batters have hit just .100 (4-40) off him and has yielded a mark of .065 (2-31) with runners on base.
Gonzalez, who turned 25 yesterday, has spent most of the 2016 season at Triple-A Columbus, hitting .296 (127-429) with 31 doubles, 1 triple, 11 home runs and 53 RBI in 104 games. He has scored 62 runs to go along with 12 stolen bases. He has batted .333 (61-183) with runners on base and since returning to Columbus on August 5 he has batted .297 (27-91) with 9 2B, 5 HR, 14 RBI in 23 games. Erik has appeared in 90 games at shortstop, 8 games at second base, 3 games at third base, 2 in center field and 1 game in right field. The AAA All-Star currently ranks among International League leaders in doubles (4th, 31), runs (T5th, 62) and hits (8th, 127) despite spending nearly three weeks with Cleveland in his debut at the Major League level, July 14-August 4.
Moore, 32, has spent the entire 2016 season with AAA Columbus, batting .247 (74-299) with 14 doubles, 7 home runs and 31 RBI in 86 games. He batted .275 (11-40) with one home run, one RBI and eight runs scored in his last 12 games with the Clippers. He has appeared in 77 games at catcher, seven games at designated hitter, two games as a pinch hitter and one game at first base for Columbus. He appeared in 1 game last September with the Indians and was on the Major League roster, May 1-3, but did not appear in a game.
The Major League roster currently consists of 31 players.
