The Oakland A's recalled right-handed pitcher Raul Alcantara from Triple-A Nashville, the club announced today.
Alcantara started the season at Double-A Midland, where he went 5-6 with a 4.80 ERA in 17 starts. He was moved up to Nashville July 21 and was a perfect 4-0 with a 1.18 ERA in eight starts. His ERA with the Sounds was the lowest in the Pacific Coast League dating back to July 21. The 23-year-old right-hander was a combined 9-6 with a 3.58 ERA in 25 minor league starts. He issued just 30 walks in 135.2 innings, an average of 1.99 per nine innings. Alcantara becomes the eight pitcher to make his Major League debut with the A's this year and the sixth to make his first ML start.
