The Red Sox will celebrate 10-time All-Star and three-time World Series Champion David Ortiz during the final weekend of the regular season when the Red Sox face the Toronto Blue Jays at Fenway Park on Friday, September 30, Saturday, October 1, and Sunday, October 2.
Throughout the weekend, the club will pay homage to Ortiz's accomplishments on the field during his 14-year career in a Red Sox uniform, celebrate his leadership in the clubhouse and in the community -- both in New England and in the Dominican Republic -- and thank him for the countless clutch moments that helped bring three World Series Championships to Boston.
During all three games, Red Sox players will wear a patch on their jerseys and caps in honor of Ortiz. The bases will also be adorned with a special logo throughout the weekend. All fans attending the game on Sunday, October 2, will receive a commemorative David Ortiz patch. 
The three-game series against Toronto includes two 7:10 p.m. games on Friday, September 30, and Saturday, October 1. The Sunday game is scheduled for 3:05 p.m.
Starting later this week, NESN will air the first of two in-depth specials on Ortiz's career. "David Ortiz: The Journey" premieres on NESN Friday, September 16, followed by "The David Ortiz Era," on Wednesday, September 28. Both shows are presented by Foxwoods Resort Casino and are scheduled to run immediately following the conclusion of the Red Sox-Yankees game.
The NESN documentaries will also be screened at Fenway Park on Wednesday, September 28, at 7 p.m. as part of the GlobeDocs Documentary Film Festival during HubWeek.
Ortiz announced his plans to retire on November 18, 2015 -- his 40th birthday. He is playing his 20th and final season in 2016, his 14th as a member of the Red Sox.
