The Toronto Blue Jays have hired Ben Cherington to the position of Vice President of Baseball Operations.

The Toronto Blue Jays have hired Ben Cherington to the position of Vice President of Baseball Operations.
Cherington will impact every aspect of Baseball Operations, with an emphasis on Player Development and will work closely with Gil Kim, Director, Player Development.
He was the executive vice-president and general manager of the Boston Red Sox from October 2011 until August 2015 before joining Columbia University. Cherington spent one season as a scout for the Cleveland Indians before joining the Red Sox in 1999 where he held many positions including area scout, coordinator of international scouting and director of player development.
He will report to Executive Vice President Baseball Operations and General Manager Ross Atkins.
