Texas Rangers name Katie Pothier Executive Vice President and General Counsel

The Texas Rangers today announced the appointment of Katherine (Katie) Pothier as Executive Vice President and General Counsel.

The Texas Rangers today announced the appointment of Katherine (Katie) Pothier as Executive Vice President and General Counsel.
 
In this new executive position, Pothier will have oversight responsibility for the Rangers' Legal, Human Resources, and Risk Management areas as well as having extensive interaction with the club's baseball and business operations.   
 
"The Rangers are very happy to add Katie Pothier to our executive group," said Rangers' Co-Chairman Ray Davis. "Her extensive experience, including her background in Major League Baseball, will be very valuable to many facets of this organization."
 
Pothier has nearly 25 years of legal experience which includes an extensive background in professional baseball. She served as Executive Vice President and General Counsel for the San Diego Padres from 2002-10.
 
During her tenure in San Diego, the Padres moved into PETCO Park in 2004 and later transitioned to a new ownership group. Her responsibilities included advising the Club in business operations, labor and employment, human resources, litigation, government affairs, corporate governance, and baseball and international operations.
 
For the last six years, Pothier has been a Partner with Wilson Turner Kosmo LLP in San Diego. Prior to joining the Padres, she also worked in private practice in New Jersey and California for more than ten years. She earned both a B.A. in History and her J.D. from Rutgers University.
 
Katie, who will relocate with her family to the Dallas-Fort Worth Metroplex, will join the Rangers on September 26th.
