The TORONTO BLUE JAYS have signed STEVE PEARCE to a two-year contract worth US $12.5 million.
PEARCE, 33, batted .288 with 13 home runs and a .867 OPS in 85 games for Tampa Bay and Baltimore last season. The Lakeland, Florida native is a veteran of 10 Major League seasons, spending all or parts of the last five with the Baltimore Orioles. The right-handed hitter has posted 49 home runs over the past three seasons in just 279 games, including a career-high 21 in 2014.
