Pike completes trade with Seattle

The Atlanta Braves today received left-handed pitcher Tyler Pike as the player to be named later in the November 28 trade that sent right-handed pitcher Rob Whalen and right-handed pitcher Max Povse to Seattle in exchange for outfielder Alex Jackson.

The Atlanta Braves today received left-handed pitcher Tyler Pike as the player to be named later in the November 28 trade that sent right-handed pitcher Rob Whalen and right-handed pitcher Max Povse to Seattle in exchange for outfielder Alex Jackson.
Pike, 22, spent last season at High-A Bakersfield, going 6-5 with a 4.01 ERA (56 ER/125.2 IP) and 134 strikeouts in 25 starts. His 9.60 K/9 rate ranked fifth among all minor-league left-handers with at least 125.0 innings.
Originally selected by Seattle in the Compensation B round of the 2012 First-Year Player Draft out of Winter Haven High School in Florida, Pike earned All-Star honors in 2012 and 2013. In his five minor-league seasons, the 6-0, 180-pound native of Winter Haven is 26-26 with a 4.04 ERA (238 ER/530.2 IP) in 113 games, all starts.
