Prior to tonight's game vs. Tampa Bay, the Chicago White Sox placed outfielder Leury García on the 10-day disabled list with a sprained right thumb and purchased the contract of outfielder Rymer Liriano from Class AAA Charlotte.
 Liriano, 26, was hitting .256 (115-449) with 15 doubles, three triples, 17 home runs, 52 RBI, 42 walks and 67 runs scored in 123 games with Charlotte this season. He appeared in 92 games in right field, 17 as the designated hitter, 10 in left and two in center. The 6-foot-2, 210-pound Liriano was claimed off waivers by the White Sox from Milwaukee on October 28, 2016.
 Liriano, a native of Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic, appeared in 38 games with San Diego in 2014, batting .220 (24-109) with two doubles, one home run and six RBI in his only major-league season.
He is a career .274 hitter (878-3,199) with 187 doubles, 31 triples, 85 home runs, 430 RBI, 318 walks, 512 runs scored and a .346 on-base percentage in 861 games over seven minor-league seasons in the San Diego, Milwaukee and White Sox organizations. He originally was signed by the Padres as an international free agent on July 3, 2007.
