The Office of the Commissioner of Baseball announced today that four Minor League players have been suspended following their violations of the Minor League Drug Prevention and Treatment Program.
Chicago Cubs Minor League right-handed pitcher Wilfre Delgado, who is currently on the roster of the rookie-level Dominican Summer League Cubs, has received a 72-game suspension without pay after testing positive for Stanozolol, a performance-enhancing substance in violation of the Program. The suspension of Delgado will be effective at the start of the 2018 DSL season.
Seattle Mariners Minor League outfielder Eric Filia, who is currently on the roster of the Double-A Arkansas Travelers of the Texas League, has received a 50-game suspension without pay following a second positive test for a drug of abuse in violation of the Program. The suspension of Filia will be effective at the start of the 2018 Texas League season.
Boston Red Sox Minor League right-handed pitcher Antonio Police, who is currently on the roster of the rookie-level Dominican Summer League Red Sox, has received a 72-game suspension without pay after testing positive for Boldenone, a performance-enhancing substance in violation of the Program. The suspension of Police will be effective at the start of the 2018 DSL season.
Free agent Minor League right-handed pitcher Joel Romero has received an 80-game suspension without pay after testing positive for Stanozolol, a performance-enhancing substance in violation of the Program. The suspension of Romero will be effective immediately upon his signing with another Major League organization.
