The New York Mets today announced that the club has recalled RHP Corey Oswalt from Las Vegas (AAA) of the Pacific Coast League and optioned LHP P.J. Conlon to Las Vegas. Oswalt will wear #55 and will be available for tonight's game in Cincinnati.
 
Oswalt, 24, was with the Mets earlier this year from April 10-April 11 and April 21-27. He made his major league debut on April 25 at St. Louis with 4.2 innings of relief.
 
Oswalt was 2-2 with a 6.62 ERA (13 earned runs/17.2 innings) in four starts for the 51s. He had issued seven walks and struck out 20.
 
Last season's Sterling Organizational Pitcher of the Year, the 6-5, 245-pound righty went 12-5 with a 2.28 ERA (34 earned runs/134.1 innings) in 24 starts with Binghamton (AA) of the Eastern League. He was named the Eastern League's Pitcher of the Year and was also a Baseball America Double-A All-Star selection. His 2.28 ERA led the league among qualified pitchers and was the lowest for any qualified starter at the Double-A level. Oswalt was a mid-season and a post-season Eastern League All-Star last season. His 12 wins were second-most in the circuit while his 1.18 WHIP was third-best.
 
The California-born Oswalt was drafted by the Mets in the seventh-round of the 2012 First-Year Player Draft out of Madison High in San Diego, CA.
 
Conlon made his major league debut last night. In 3.2 innings, he allowed four hits and three runs in a no-decision. He became the first Irish-born player to appear in the majors since Joe Cleary of the Washington Senators in 1945.
