Eric Filia returned to Mariners; Seattle to send cash considerations to Red Sox

Seattle Mariners Executive Vice President & General Manager of Baseball Operations Jerry Dipoto announced on Friday that the Red Sox have returned outfielder Eric Filia, who on June 12 was named as the player to be named later (PTBNL) to complete the April 23 trade with Boston. Seattle will instead send cash considerations to the Red Sox to complete the trade for left-handed pitcher Roenis Elias.

Filia, 25, began the season with Double-A Arkansas on May 30. He recorded 5 multi-hit contest in 13 games with the Travelers, batting .426 (23x54) with 10 runs scored, 3 doubles, 1 home run, 14 RBI and 9 walks. 
Filia was originally selected by Seattle out of UCLA in the 20th round of the 2016 MLB First-Year Player Draft. In 3 minor league seasons with the Mariners, he's hit .343 (272x792) with 117 runs scored, 50 doubles, 6 triples, 10 home runs, 119 RBI, 114 walks and 19 stolen bases.
