A's Jed Lowrie named to American League All-Star team

Jed Lowrie of the Oakland Athletics has been named to the American League All-Star Team for the 89th Major League Baseball All-Star Game on Tuesday, July 17 at Nationals Park in Washington DC.

Jed Lowrie of the Oakland Athletics has been named to the American League All-Star Team for the 89th Major League Baseball All-Star Game on Tuesday, July 17 at Nationals Park in Washington DC. It is his first career All-Star selection.
 
Lowrie is the first A's middle infielder to be selected to the All-Star Game since Miguel Tejada in 2002. He will join teammate Blake Treinen at the All-Star Game and Oakland will boast multiple All-Star selections for the first time since 2015 (Sonny Gray & Stephen Vogt).
 
Lowrie is hitting .288 (100-for-347) with 40 runs, 25 doubles, 16 home runs, 62 RBI, a .358 on-base percentage, a .504 slugging mark and an .863 OPS in 89 games this season. He is among the American League leaders in multiple offensive categories, including T2nd in RBI (62), 2nd in game-winning RBI (12), T4th in go-ahead RBI (17), T6th in multi-hit games (32), T9th in hits (100) and T8th in doubles (25). He's hitting .342 (25-for-73) with 6 doubles, 1 triple, 3 home runs, 40 RBI and a .987 OPS with runners in scoring position, and .429 (12-for-28) with runners in scoring position and two outs.
 
In 11 Major League seasons, he is hitting .263 (984-for-3735) with 483 runs, 247 doubles, 17 triples, 97 home runs and 472 RBI in 1041 games with Boston (2008-11), Houston (2012, 2015) and Oakland (2013-14, 2016-18).
