Nationals recall Sammy Solis and acquire Jacob Condra-Bogan

The Washington Nationals recalled left-handed pitcher Sammy Solis from Triple-A Syracuse. Additionally, they acquired Minor League right-handed pitcher Jacob Condra-Bogan from the Kansas City Royals in exchange for outfielder Brian Goodwin on Sunday. Nationals President of Baseball Operations and General Manager Mike Rizzo made the announcements.

The Washington Nationals recalled left-handed pitcher Sammy Solis from Triple-A Syracuse. Additionally, they acquired Minor League right-handed pitcher Jacob Condra-Bogan from the Kansas City Royals in exchange for outfielder Brian Goodwin on Sunday. Nationals President of Baseball Operations and General Manager Mike Rizzo made the announcements.
Solis, 29, returns to the Nationals after appearing in five games with Syracuse where he tossed scoreless relief in three of the five outings. Solis allowed just one hit in six at-bats against left-handed batters. In 40 games with the Nationals in 2018, he is 1-1 with 12 holds and a 4.50 ERA.
Condra-Bogan, a 6-foot-3, 215-pound right-hander, is 1-1 with five saves and a 3.00 ERA (9 ER/27.0 IP) in 17 games between Single-A Lexington and Single-A Wilmington. He has 40 strikeouts against just three walks, a 0.89 WHIP and 13.3 strikeouts per 9.0 innings. He has held opponents to a .208 batting average (21-for-101) along the way.
Condra-Bogan was signed by the Kansas City Royals as a Minor League free agent on January 31, 2018 out of the independent Frontier League. He went 1-0 with a 1.17 ERA (2 ER/15.1 IP) in 11 appearances for the Washington Wild Things of the independent Frontier League in 2017. Condra-Bogan was originally drafted by the Toronto Blue Jays in the 32nd round of the 2017 First-Year Player Draft, but did not sign.
Goodwin, 27, hit .200 (13-for-65) with one double, three homers, 12 RBI, three stolen bases and nine runs scored in 48 games for Washington in 2018. He appeared in 144 games across three Major League seasons (2016-18) with the Nationals, hitting .246 with a .315 on-base percentage and a .464 slugging percentage.
