Mariners select Ross Detwiler from Triple-A; option Chasen Bradford to Triple-A

Seattle Mariners Executive Vice President & General Manager of Baseball Operations Jerry Dipoto announced the following roster moves Tuesday:
·         Ross Detwiler, LHP, selected from AAA Tacoma.
·         Chasen Bradford, RHP, optioned to AAA Tacoma.
·         Zach Vincej, INF, designated for assignment.
Detwiler (#45) will be in uniform and available for Tuesday's (7:10 pm PT) game vs. the Houston Astros at Safeco Field.
Seattle's Major League, 40-man, roster remains at 40 players.
Detwiler, 32, was signed by Seattle to a minor league contract on June 2. He's made 14 appearances, 11 starts, with AAA Tacoma and was 2-5 with a 5.15 ERA (41 ER, 71.2 IP). Detwiler is 2-1, 4.60 (24 ER, 47.0 IP) in 9 games, 7 starts, at Cheney Stadium. He began the 2018 season pitching with independent York in the Atlantic League and was 3-1, 2.70 (9 ER, 30.0 IP) in 6 starts. Ross split the 2017 season between AAA Nashville and AAA Iowa.
Detwiler has pitched in the Majors in parts of 9 seasons with Washington (2007, 2009-2014), Texas (2015), Atlanta (2015), Cleveland (2016) and Oakland (2016). Overall, he has a career MLB mark of 23-41 with a 4.36 ERA (280 ER, 578.0 IP) in 189 games, 83 starts. He was a first round pick (6th overall) pick by the Nationals in the 2007 Draft and made his MLB debut that same season, pitching in 1 game.
Bradford, 29, has appeared in three stints with Seattle this season (4/9-7/31, 8/3-9 & 8/19-8/21). He allowed 3 runs (2 ER) and tied his season-high with 3.0 inning in his most recent outing on Aug. 19 vs. Los Angeles-NL. In 38 relief appearances with the Mariners this season, he is 5-0 with a 3.23 ERA (17 ER, 47.1 IP) with 38 strikeouts and 11 walks. His 47.1 innings pitched are 2nd-most among Mariners relievers (Edwin Díaz, 62.0 IP). The 6-foot-1, 230-pound right-hander has 11 outings of at least 1.1 innings pitched, going is 3-0 with a 2.16 ERA (6 ER, 25.0 IP) with 13 strikeouts and 7 walks. Bradford has appeared in 4 games with AAA Tacoma in relief, allowing only 3 hits and striking out 1 over 4.0 scoreless innings.
Bradford was claimed off waivers by Seattle from New York-NL on Jan. 19, 2018. In parts of 2 Major League seasons with the Mets (2017) and Mariners (2018-c), he is 7-0 with a 3.44 ERA (31 ER, 81.0 IP) with 60 strikeouts and 24 walks. The native of Las Vegas, NV, was originally selected by the Mets in the 35th round of the 2011 MLB First-Year Player Draft out of the University of Central Florida.
Vincej ("VINCE-ee"), 27, appeared in 1 game with the Mariners after a brief stint with Seattle, July 30-Aug. 1. He has spent the majority of the season with AAA Tacoma, batting .246 (86x350) with 45 runs scored, 13 doubles, 2 triples, 6 home runs and 47 RBI in 99 games. Hewas claimed off waivers by Seattle from Cincinnati on Nov. 3, 2017 and outrighted to Tacoma on Nov. 11.
Vincej made his Major League debut with the Reds in 2017, appearing in 9 games. In parts of 7 minor league seasons with the Mariners (2018-c) and Reds (2012-17), he is a career .268 (632x2361) hitter with 315 runs, 119 doubles, 15 triples, 22 home runs, 242 RBI and 53 stolen bases in 677 career games. The native of San Diego, Calif., was selected by Cincinnati in the 37th round of the 2012 MLB Draft out of Pepperdine University. He was the recipient of the Brooks Wallace Award, honoring the nation's top collegiate shortstop, as a junior in 2012.
