Minneapolis/St. Paul, MN -- The Minnesota Twins announced today that they have added infielders Luis Arraez and Nick Gordon, and outfielder LaMonte Wade to their Major League roster.
Arraez, 21, split the 2018 season between Single-A Ft. Myers and Double-A Chattanooga, hitting .310 (126-for-406) with 20 doubles, three triples, three home runs, 36 RBI, 52 runs scored and a .361 on-base percentage in 108 games. The San Felipe, Venezuela native was signed by the Twins as an undrafted free agent in November of 2013. In five seasons in the Twins minor league system, he has hit .329 (400-for-1216) with 72 doubles, eight triples, six home runs, 137 RBI, 166 runs scored and a .381 on-base percentage in 313 games.
Gordon, 23, split last season between Double-A Chattanooga and Triple-A Rochester, combining to hit .248 (135-for-544) with 23 doubles, seven triples, seven home runs, 49 RBI, 62 runs scored and 20 stolen bases in 141 games. Gordon, who is the son of former major league pitcher Tom "Flash" Gordon and younger brother of Seattle's Dee Gordon, was drafted by the Twins fifth overall in the 2014 First-Year Player Draft. He entered 2018 as the eighth-best prospect in the Twins organization by Baseball America and second-best by MLB.com.
Wade, 24, split last season between Double-A Chattanooga and Triple-A Rochester, hitting .257 (109-for-424) with 11 doubles, four triples, 11 home runs, 48 RBI, 10 stolen bases and a .360 on-base percentage in 120 games. The left-handed hitting outfielder was drafted by the Twins in the ninth round of the 2015 First-Year Player Draft out of the University of Maryland. He entered the 2018 season as the 17th ranked prospect in the Twins minor league system by MLB.com.
The Twins have also made a minor league trade acquiring infielder Brian Schales from the Miami Marlins, in exchange for right-handed pitcher Nick Anderson. Schales was drafted by the Marlins in the fourth round of the 2014 First-Year Player Draft out of Edison High School in Huntington Beach, California. Schales will be assigned to Triple-A Rochester.
Additionally, the Twins have granted right-handed pitcher Alan Busenitz his unconditional release, allowing him to be purchased by the Rakuten Eagles of the Nippon Professional Baseball League in Japan.
The Twins now have 38 players on their Major League roster.
