Seattle Mariners Executive Vice President & General Manager of Baseball Operations Jerry Dipoto announced today that the Mariners have acquired catcher Omar Narváez from the Chicago White Sox in exchange for right-handed pitcher Alex Colomé.
"Omar has quietly developed into one of the tougher outs among catchers in MLB, his contact and on-base skills are welcome additions to our lineup," Dipoto said. "The fact that he is also under club control through 2022 made him a great fit for our club."
Narváez, 26, set career-highs in nearly every offensive category with the White Sox in 2018, including runs scored (30), doubles (14), home runs (9) and RBI (30).
