On Friday, Kansas City Royals' Senior Vice President-Baseball Operations/General Manager Dayton Moore announced the promotions of three members of his Baseball Operations staff. 

Lonnie Goldberg has been promoted to Assistant General Manager/Amateur Scouting, Dr. Daniel Mack will now serve as Assistant General Manager/Research and Development and Guy Stevens is now the Senior Director of Research and Development/Strategy.

"Lonnie, Daniel and Guy have done an amazing job and I'm thrilled to announce these well-deserved promotions," said Moore. "We look forward to their continued leadership in these expanded roles and are excited about their future contributions to the Kansas City Royals."
Goldberg, formerly the Director of Scouting, is in his 12th season with the Royals' organization and just completed his eighth overseeing the scouting department. The Fairfax, VA, native played collegiately at George Mason University, then embarked on a minor league playing career before joining the Atlanta scouting department in 2002.

Dr. Mack spent last year as the Sr. Director of Quantitative Analysis/Amateur Scouting. He initially joined the Royals in 2013 as an analyst in baseball analytics, then was promoted to Director of Baseball Analytics/Research Science in 2015. He has a bachelor's degree in computer science from the University of Notre Dame, a master's degree in computer science with a concentration in machine learning from Columbia University and a doctorate in computer science from Vanderbilt University.

Stevens enters his seventh season with the Royals, serving last year as the Director of Baseball Administration/Quantitative Analysis. He had previously worked as a Coordinator and Assistant to Baseball Analytics after beginning as an intern in 2013. Guy also interned in 2012 with the New York Mets in their Baseball Operations Department. A former pitcher at Pomona College in Claremont, CA, Stevens graduated with a double major in mathematics and economics. He was also a member of the Israeli National Team from 2010 to 2015 before retiring as a player.
