The Pittsburgh Pirates today agreed to terms on a minor league contract with infielder Nick Franklin, which includes an invitation to big league camp.  
 
The 27-year-old Franklin was originally selected by Seattle in the first round of the 2009 First-Year Player Draft (27th pick overall) and has appeared in 301 Major League games since making his debut in 2013. He has made 143 appearances at second base, 37 in left field, 30 at shortstop, 19 at first base, 11 in right field and one at third base during his career with the Mariners (2013-14), Rays (2014-16), Brewers (2017-18) and Angels (2017). 
 
Franklin attended 2018 spring training with Milwaukee and began the regular season with Double-A Biloxi. He made his only appearance with the Brewers on May 8 before being placed on the disabled list the following day due to a right quad strain. Aside from playing in six rehab games, Franklin spent the rest of the 2018 campaign on Milwaukee's D.L. 
 
A three-time minor league All-Star (2010, 2012, 2014), the Orlando, FL, native played in a career-high 102 big league games during his rookie season with Seattle in 2013. He also set career highs in home runs (12) and RBI (45) that season, ranking second among American League rookies in RBI and fourth in homers.
