Four Dodgers hitters -- Dusty Baker, Steve Garvey, Davey Lopes and Bill Russell -- recorded seven hits and batted .389 or better in the four-game series, while Larry Bowa and Greg Luzinski each had six hits for the Phillies.

Tommy John threw a shutout in Game 2 before Russell clinched the series with a walk-off single in the bottom of the 10th inning of Game 4.

Path to the NLCS: The Dodgers (95-67) won the NL West by 2 1/2 games. The Phillies (90-72) won the NL East by 1 1/2 games.
