A couple late wins against the Angels, who finished the regular season with the best record in baseball and won their division by 21 games, helped pace the Red Sox to the ALCS in this series victory.

The Angels' lone victory in the series was a 5-4 12-inning win at Fenway Park in Game 3. Boston scored in the ninth in each of its three wins, with the two winning runs coming in the ninth inning of Game 2 and Jed Lowrie delivering a walk-off single in Game 4.

Jason Bay had seven hits (two doubles, two home runs), three runs and five RBIs in the series for Boston. Jacoby Ellsbury had six hits -- including three doubles -- and drove in six.

Path to the ALDS: Boston (95-67) finished second in the AL East and won the Wild Card; Anaheim (100-62) won the AL West by 21 games
