After a back-and-forth series, the Tigers got two first-inning runs in Game 5 and held on for a 3-2 victory to clinch the series in New York and advance to the ALCS.

Delmon Young was the offensive hero for Detroit, belting three home runs and scoring four in the series. He had six hits.

Robinson Cano and Brett Gardner each had seven hits for the Yankees, and the two combined for 14 RBIs.
