AL, NL Wild Card Game times announced

September 30th, 2021

Major League Baseball announced the start times for the 2021 Wild Card Games presented by Hankook, with Tuesday’s American League Wild Card Game scheduled to air on ESPN at 8 p.m. ET and Wednesday’s National League Wild Card Game set for 8 p.m. on TBS.

Both participants in the AL Wild Card Game are to be determined. The Yankees and Red Sox controlled the two Wild Card spots entering Thursday, but the Mariners and Blue Jays are close behind.

In the NL, the Cardinals have clinched a Wild Card berth, and they will play on the road against either the Giants or the Dodgers, depending on which of those teams finishes second in the NL West. St. Louis manager Mike Shildt announced veteran right-hander Adam Wainwright will get the start.

First pitch for the AL Wild Card Game is scheduled for 8:08 p.m., and ESPN’s coverage of the event will include a Statcast-driven alternate broadcast on ESPN2. The Baseball Tonight pregame show will air on ESPN from 7-8 p.m. The game will also be available on ESPN Radio, ESPN Deportes and the ESPN app.

The NL Wild Card Game’s first pitch is scheduled for 8:10 p.m. TBS’ coverage gets underway with a one-hour pregame show beginning at 7 p.m.
