OAKLAND -- Danny Valencia is scheduled to start a rehab assignment Monday and should come off the disabled list for the road trip starting Friday at Baltimore, A's manager Bob Melvin said Sunday.
The third baseman was placed on the 15-day DL, retroactive to April 21, because of a left hamstring strain he suffered against the Yankees. Valencia continued to take ground balls before Sunday's series finale against the Astros. He's hit .294 with two RBIs and five runs through 51 at-bats.
"He's fine," Melvin said. "He feels great. … Our expectation is he'll be in the lineup come Baltimore, which is the first day he's able to come off.
