A's put Wilson, Soderstrom on IL, call up No. 9 prospect

The Athletics selected infielder , and recalled right-handed pitcher and infielder from Triple-A Las Vegas, the club announced on Monday. The A’s placed infielder on the 10-day injured list retroactive to June 26 with a right thumb inflammation, left fielder on the 10-day IL retroactive to June 28 with a left hip impingement, and left-handed pitcher on the paternity list. To make room on the 40-man roster, right-handed pitcher was designated for assignment.

Kuroda-Grauer began the season at Double-A Midland, was promoted to Las Vegas on May 11 and will be making his Major League debut. He is hitting .323 with seven home runs, 44 RBI, 15 stolen bases and an .845 OPS in 75 minor league games. The 23-year-old right-handed hitter leads all of Minor League Baseball in hits (109), ranks second in runs (76) and tied for fifth in doubles (23). Kuroda-Grauer was the A's third round selection in the 2024 First-Year Player Draft and is the third A's pick from that season to reach the majors, joining Nick Kurtz and Gage Jump. He is a .309 hitter with nine home runs, 99 RBI, 47 stolen bases and a .777 OPS in 224 games in three seasons in the minors, and is rated as the A's ninth-best prospect by MLB.com.

Morris joins the A’s for the second time this year. He was called up for the first time on June 2, started and lost on June 6 at Houston, and was optioned to Las Vegas on June 9. The 24-year-old right-hander went 2-1 with a 4.26 ERA in three starts with the Aviators following his option and is 7-5 with a 5.16 ERA and .861 opponents OPS in 15 starts overall at Triple-A.

Hernaiz was recalled from Las Vegas today for his second stint with the A's this year. He was on the A's Opening Day roster and was hitting .237 with a home run, seven RBI and a .606 OPS in 47 games when he was optioned to Las Vegas on June 8. The 24-year-old right-handed hitter batted .279 with three doubles, six RBI and a .714 OPS in 16 games with the Aviators.

Wilson goes on the IL for the second time this year as he was previously out from May 11 to June 9 with a left shoulder subluxation. He is batting .277 with four home runs, 26 RBI and a .696 OPS in 50 games with the A’s.

Soderstrom is hitting .242 with 20 doubles, two triples, 13 home runs, 41 RBI and an .803 OPS in 80 games with the A’s. He is tied for eighth in the majors in doubles (20) and tied for 13th in extra base hits (35).

Suarez was acquired from Seattle on May 14 and is 1-1 with a 4.01 ERA in 17 relief appearances with the A’s. He is 1-2 with a 5.02 ERA and .811 opponents OPS in 26 games overall with the A’s, Mariners and Braves.

Kelly compiled a 16.20 ERA in five relief appearances over two stints with the A’s and is 1-0 with eight saves, a 3.20 ERA and .714 OPS in 22 relief appearances with the Aviators.
