OAKLAND -- On this Mother's Day, the A's reflected on everything his mom, Diane, has done for him.
"She always took us to and from our practices. My dad was most of the time one of our coaches, and she was always there supporting us, always driving us. She's very selfless. She just cares for everybody else and worries about herself last. It's something you take for granted, because you always see it happening and it's your mom, but when you sit back and think about it, especially as a dad, you're able to appreciate it more, and it's pretty cool. I see it now as a father how it is. She's a good one.

"She raised us, and then when we were older, she was diagnosed with breast cancer when I was 14, so she went through all that, is completely in remission now, and as she was recovering and doing her treatment, she started going back to school and got her nursing credentials, and she started working on the oncology floor helping other cancer patients. So she kind of went full circle."
