SARASOTA, Fla. -- In his final game before leaving Orioles camp to join the Netherlands for the World Baseball Classic, Jonathan Schoop hit a long third-inning home run as the O's fell to the Yankees, 4-1, on Monday afternoon.
Schoop is 3-for-8 in three spring games. He also has two doubles.
"I feel like I have enough games in. I think we have two more exhibition games down there to get ready. Then, we've got to play three games down there before the tournament starts, but I'm ready. I feel good," Schoop said.
Ubaldo Jimenez started and allowed one run on two hits in two innings in his first Grapefruit League start.
Chad Green started for the Yankees and allowed one hit and walked a batter in two innings. Green is competing for one of the two vacant slots in New York's rotation.
Yankees outfielder Aaron Judge drove in New York's first run with a fielder's choice in the first inning, and also showed off his arm in right, throwing out Hyun Soo Kim at second after Kim tried to turn a single into a double.
"We've seen him throw before, so we were not surprised," manager Joe Girardi said.
Minor League infielder Thairo Estrada hit a three-run ninth-inning home run to give the Yankees the lead.
Yankees Up Next: The Yankees will have a pair of split-squad games on Tuesday, hosting the Tigers at George M. Steinbrenner Field and traveling to Fort Myers, Fla., to face the Red Sox. Probable Opening Day starter Masahiro Tanaka will face Detroit while rotation candidate Luis Cessa sees Boston. Both games begin at 1:05 p.m. ET.
