Judge goes all out to corral sinking fly ball

April 19th, 2019

NEW YORK -- 's plate appearances are still the ones that ease traffic at the concession stands and stadium lavatories, but the Yankees right fielder's defense has been just as worthy of attention so far this year.

Judge contributed another stellar defensive play in the fifth inning of the Yankees' 6-1 loss on Thursday, taking a hit away from the Royals' Billy Hamilton.

With the Yankees trailing, 3-1, and Domingo German on the mound, Judge ran in and snared a soft fly ball with a dive, landing on his chest and tossing the ball back to the infield before flashing a grin.

Despite his offensive value, the 6-foot-7, 282-pound Judge has not been shy about throwing his body around on defense. He was a finalist for the American League Gold Glove Award last season, which was presented to Mookie Betts of the Red Sox.
