OAKLAND -- Toronto right-hander Aaron Sanchez is expected to make his next scheduled start, despite leaving Sunday’s game after four innings with a broken nail on his right middle finger.

“We got him out before it got really bad, so he shouldn’t miss his next start,” Blue Jays manager Charlie Montoyo said.

Sanchez, who threw 59 pitches against the A’s, said that his finger began annoying him during his outing on Tuesday at Minnesota.

“I think it was the cold weather; I don’t know,” Sanchez said. “I’ve never really dealt with a broken nail. It’s always been the skin and the flesh. It kind of kept peeling up today.”

Sanchez observed that Toronto’s scheduled off-days on Monday and Thursday will give him more idle time between now and his next outing, which should help his healing process.
