ANAHEIM -- Rays shortstop exited Thursday's 7-1 win over the Angels with a strained right hamstring after hitting a single to left field in the second inning.
Hechavarria shot a grounder past third baseman Zack Cozart, and when he reached first base, he was grabbing his hamstring. The Rays said he will be re-evaluated Friday.
Pinch-runner Joey Wendle replaced Hechavarria, who is hitting .273 with two home runs and 16 RBIs this season. Wendle took over at second base, and shifted from second to shortstop.
