Beltré, PA voice Morgan to join Rangers HOF

June 24th, 2021

The Texas Rangers Baseball Hall of Fame, which began in 2003, will have two new members added to it this year.

Former third baseman and longtime public address announcer Chuck Morgan were announced on Thursday as the 23rd and 24th inductees into the franchise’s hall of fame.

Beltré, a four-time All-Star and five-time Gold Glove winner, retired with 3,166 hits and 477 home runs. He made three All-Star teams as a Ranger and claimed three of his Gold Glove Awards during his eight seasons with the franchise.

Morgan has been the Rangers’ public address announcer for 38 of the last 39 years. He began his journey with the organization in 1989 and has been an integral part of the organization as the voice inside the Rangers’ home ballpark. Morgan said the news of him going into the Rangers Hall of Fame left him speechless. Hearing that he would be inducted with Beltré was the “icing on the cake.”

“Well, the first time I heard it, I was in a staff meeting and I was shocked,” he said. “I didn't know what to say. I didn't know how to react. And then, when I found out it was going to be [with] Adrián Beltré, I have been pinching myself every day.”

While Beltré left his mark on the franchise with his on-field success that has him primed for a spot in Cooperstown, Morgan left his footprints on Rangers baseball from the PA booth.

On Sept. 26, 2020, Morgan announced the starting lineups for his 3,000th consecutive game. His microphone from the ballgame was also used for the 2020 World Series. It now resides in Cooperstown.

“When you hear the name ‘Chuck Morgan,’ it just brings a smile [to] your face and you just think about the ballpark and hearing his voice,” Rangers manager Chris Woodward said. “This guy loves baseball, and he's grateful for his job every day. He loves coming to the ballpark.

“You don't find that very often, honestly. And I know in this game, there's a lot of really good people, but guys like him are a treasure and I'm glad we're doing it, because it means a lot to the organization and to him.”

Beltré and Morgan will be inducted into the Rangers Hall of Fame during a pregame ceremony on Saturday, Aug. 14, at Globe Life Field when the Rangers take on the A’s.
