Beltre's 3-run HR powers Rangers over A's

March 12th, 2016

SURPRISE, Ariz. -- Third baseman Adrian Beltre hit a three-run homer in the Rangers' six-run fourth inning and Texas rolled to a 14-5 Cactus League victory over the Athletics on Saturday afternoon.
Beltre was 2-for-3 with four RBIs, and is 6-for-12 so far this spring.
"I still have some work to do to find some consistency," Beltre said. "All I want to do is get out of here healthy and turn it on when the season starts."
Athletics starter Kendall Graveman, the leading candidate for the No. 5 spot in the rotation, went three innings and allowed three runs on four hits and two walks. He threw 57 pitches.
"With a team like the Rangers, I need to change speeds and not be so predictable," Graveman said.
Rangers starter Phil Klein, who is trying to find some traction toward winning a spot in the Texas rotation, went 2 2/3 innings. He gave up a two-run homer to designated hitter Stephen Vogt.
Up next for A's: Right-hander Jesse Hahn will get the ball against the Cubs at home at Hohokam Stadium at 1:05 p.m. PT for his second spring start. He is scheduled to be followed on the mound by left-handers Dillon Overton and Sean Doolittle and righties John Axford, Ryan Madson and Liam Hendriks.
Up next for Rangers: Left-hander Derek Holland pitches when the Rangers face the Angels at 3:10 p.m. CT Sunday in Tempe. Holland is making his third start this spring, and has allowed two unearned runs in 4 2/3 innings. He allowed six hits, walked two and struck out three.
