Pollock says sore arm not an issue

March 2nd, 2016

SCOTTSDALE, Ariz. -- D-backs outfielder A.J. Pollock said the arm soreness he is experiencing is something that crops up every spring and is nothing to be concerned about.
Pollock was scratched from Tuesday's exhibition game against the University of Arizona after not taking batting practice for three days.
"He's good," D-backs manager Chip Hale said. "They went through the progression and [it] seems to be just working through it -- throwing or hitting each one day and so I think probably by Friday we'll get him in some games."
Pollock said he has experienced arm soreness this time of year ever since having surgery in 2010 to repair a right elbow fracture. It usually lasts about four days.
"It really isn't a big deal," Pollock said. "It's kind of funny how everyone is asking how my elbow is. I could go out there right now and hit, but for the sake of taking a day or two and getting to 100 percent as opposed to 80 percent."
D-backs love Salt River Fields: One day after former Rockies shortstop Troy Tulowitzki referred to the Salt River Fields Spring Training facility as being like a "country club" in a USA Today story, Hale begged to differ, saying the amenities help his club better get ready for the season.
Tulowitzki said he preferred the Blue Jays facility in Dunedin, Fla., that was one of the older ones in the game because it was more of how Spring Training was "supposed to be."
"Trust me, I've been some places you don't want to go," Hale said. "If he wants to go to old Melbourne, Fla., where I was with the Minnesota Twins he can have a real baseball environment."
